Woodland Wildlife Challenge Lancashire

Cobbs Clough Lancashire.

Day 7 of my Woodland Wildflower Challenge: Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa, or Wild Sloe)

The spring flowers are edible. They taste a bit like almonds and can be added to salads or made into a syrup. The young leaves can be brewed into a tea. The fruit is very tart until soaked and made into gin :-)
